The Cedric Literary Awards is a result of the amazing collaborative efforts of some very energetic and talented individuals.

Dr. Peter Dale, Chairman and Founder

Dr. Dale is the person who came up with the idea of establishing a writing competition that would recognize and celebrate unpublished writers over the age of 50.  He previously helped build a $150 million Canadian private real estate development company operating in Canada and the US. Dr. Dale is currently a licensed mortgage broker and lender, and is a Member of the Trust Institute of the Institute of Canadian Bankers.

Veronica Osborn, Executive Director

Veronica had a long and successful career in the BC public service.  In early retirement, she took up the challenge of building The Cedric Literary Awards, with a view to changing the landscape of writing competitions in Canada.  In addition to her work with “the Cedrics”, Veronica volunteers with numerous not-for-profit organizations in the Greater Victoria area where she lives.

Melissa McLean, Blog Manager

Melissa has a background in communications, marketing, destination tourism management, and executive leadership including more than 20 years with Tourism Victoria. She operates Melissa McLean Management Services and works collaboratively with private sector and not-for-profit clients in the areas of marketing, communications and strategic planning. Melissa’s home resembles the local library, providing a comforting and inspiring backdrop while she writes a mystery novel set in China!

Heather Kohler, Chief Creative Officer

Heather is responsible for all of the graphics and creative elements used by The Cedric Literary Awards.  She is a design & communications professional with better than 15 years of experience and success, starting as an Art Director with Chicago advertising firm Kennedy and Associates.  Ms. Kohler is a member of The Society of Graphic Designers of Canada, and reads anything she can get her hands on.
